International Women’s Day is More Than One Day

A letter from Ines

International Women's Day is more than a moment, it's a movement, and we are so fortunate our life's work is to celebrate women every day. And it's because of every single bride we meet, my daughter Veronica, and I are empowered to succeed.

The first wedding dress I created was made with a Singer sewing machine that I found in the trash. As a single mom and a new immigrant to Canada with only a few dollars in my pocket, I dared to follow my endless passion and determination to succeed for myself and Veronica.

When I started my bridal business, it was the 80s, and I had to knock on many doors, and while many were shut, I am so grateful for those that opened for me. As a woman starting her own business, I stood out, which inspired me to stand out even more.

Today, my work and my life are a dream come true, and both Veronica and I have to thank all the women in our lives who lifted us up and trusted us with every bead and stitch of their gown. We couldn't have made your dreams come true without the community of women in our workroom and atelier and the many friends in our bridal family who all share our vision to celebrate the joy of femininity.

We cherish every woman for lending their hands and hearts to our journey. And if there's one thing we have learned, we are only as strong as the community of women we work with, and we are inspired by them every day.

In 2022, I am proud to see a generation of women celebrating wisdom and aging. A generation of women speaking up and demanding equality. A generation who lifts each other up instead of tearing each other down. A generation led by women like my daughter, who dare to reach even higher.

Every day is an opportunity to move towards our dreams. So let's keep moving together.
